Biography

Abhishek is a freelance photographer who, early this year, exhibited his work "Bombay to Mumbai". The work was a collection of old and new images, juxtaposing Mumbai of today to Bombay of yesteryears, highlighting the transition Bombay has made on its way to Mumbai. The old images of pre-independence Bombay from 1890 to 1940, supplied by Dinodia Photos, were quintessentially similar to the images of the modern Mumbai in essence but yet, everything has changed. This exhibition showcased this aspect of similarities which have undergone a lot of changes.

Abhishek likes focusing on elements which many a time remain unnoticed, bringing attention to details often neglected. This blends with his belief that everything in this world, big or small, has been placed for a reason and there is a value attached to this reason. His pictures focus around the essential attributes of elements, the beauty that cannot be overlooked and the value that cannot be replaced.

Abhishek is a free and independent visualiser and hence avoids being categorized as a specialist in a particular field. This thought till date is well managed as he gets assignments from different clientele especially magazines whose assignments vary from shooting the cover page to commissioning stories/essays from his archive. One of his commissioned works is a cover shoot for world’s biggest sports magazine Sports Illustrated with India's richest sports boss Dr Mallya.

He loves shooting in an angled/low sun with lots of natural light and therefore avoids hitting the studio. This helps him in keeping his images look more real and communicable to all. Also with colors he likes to keep them at the same temperature at which the images were shot, refraining from all foreign touches to his images. Abhishek is also in the process of writing a book that will bring to surface tastes of different people about what they prefer and what they buy.

He likes and appreciates the work of Indian artists whose works reflect India in the most stylist fashion like Prabuddhadas Gupta showcasing Louis Vuitton bags against the backdrop of Old Delhi.

His love for photography has taken him to numerous places with extreme climatic conditions, ranging from the very high Himalayas in mid-winter to the dense forests of Satpura during heavy rain. He believes nature is at his best when it is pushed to its extremes.

He truly appreciates and thanks all the International/global magazines who have now started featuring from India. This has opened up a pool of opportunities to talented photographers across the nation. He especially wants to thank Jagdish Agarwal ( Founder of Dinodia Photo Agency) and Vivek Parek(Maxim-India) for exposing him to a global photographic world.

Abhishek's home town is in Dhanbad, Jharkhand and he is currently based in Mumbai. His photography is represented by Dinodia
